Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Recipe Finder with Ingredients: Cook With What You Have ("the Extension", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, handles, and protects information when you install and use our Chrome browser extension and associated search services hosted via chromecrxstore.com.
1. Summary of Functionality & Search Settings
The Extension provides two primary features:
- Ingredient-Based Recipe Discovery: Allows you to enter ingredients you currently have at home to find matching recipes and meal ideas.
- Default Search Provider Configuration: Upon installation, the Extension uses the Chrome settings override API (
chrome_settings_overrides) to configure your browser's default address bar (omnibox) search provider tochromecrxstore.com(with search results powered by Yahoo).
2. Information We Collect and Process
We adhere to the principle of data minimization and only process the information strictly necessary to deliver the Extension's stated features:
-
Ingredient Inputs & Local Preferences: Any ingredients, dietary filters, or saved recipes you input inside the Extension interface are stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage (
chrome.storageorlocalStorage) or used transiently to fetch matching recipe results. -
Search Queries: When you enter a search query into the browser address bar (omnibox) or the Extension's search interface, your search term is transmitted to
chromecrxstore.comand forwarded to Yahoo's search feed to display relevant web and recipe search results. -
Standard Technical Request Metadata: Like all standard web requests, when a search query is sent to
chromecrxstore.comor the underlying search provider (Yahoo), standard HTTP headers—such as IP address, browser type/version (User-Agent), language preference, and timestamp—are automatically transmitted to deliver the search results and prevent automated abuse or fraud.
Information We Do NOT Collect: We do not collect your name, email address, passwords, payment information, personal contacts, or general browsing history on third-party websites unrelated to your active use of the Extension.
